Hamish has extensive experience in Construction Law across all construction sectors, assisting clients and service providers to identify and manage risk, resolve disputes, deliver projects, and grow.

With a belief that the best outcomes come from ongoing, deep relationships with his clients, Hamish has been actively working with clients across all sectors, in innovative ways that he and his team can deliver greater value and assistance from project conception through to completion. Prior to joining Hamilton Locke, Hamish was Managing Director of Morrissey Law + Advisory, building the firm from 2 people to a firm of more than 20, earning the reputation as a highly regarded construction and commercial law firm prior to merging with Hamilton Locke in 2022.

  • Advising multiple parties during complex construction works on Sydney Metro, including resolving multiple disputes, claims and security of payment matters.
  • Advising and negotiating contracts for the Hunter Power project.
  • Advising and negotiating battery contracts for renewable energy company.
  • Advising construction client on considerable injurious falsehood claim against Nine (settled).
  • Application for summary judgment on a payment claim worth in excess of $1.5M in hotly contested dispute (resolved).
  • Advising structural engineers on the security of payment claims against head contractors.
  • Acting in defects claim regarding technical issues around flammable cladding, waterproofing, and glazing defects (~$15M claim).
  • Defending a $1.8M claim against glazing contractor by tier 2 builder for delays in works and liquidated damages claim.
  • Pursuing a $10M claim by a civil contractor for variation claims under large public infrastructure project (settled).
