WIPO CERTIFICATION ABOUT THE HAGUE SYSTEM FOR DESIGNS

Specialized course dedicated to The Hague System for the International Registration of Industrial Designs

I recently took part in a WIPO training program, so I would like to let everyone know about the opportunity to obtain training certifications through WIPO’s online courses.

I was in fact issued a certificate relating to the study of WIPO design protection. The certificate relates to participation in a specialized course dedicated to The Hague System for the International Registration of Industrial Designs (Specialized Course on The Hague System for the International Registration of Industrial Designs).

The course covers the theoretical and operational aspects related to cross-border design protection. In summary, the main contents concern:

– How the Hague System works, with an introduction to the international regulatory framework (the 1999 Act and the Geneva Act) that allows industrial designs or models to be protected in multiple countries by filing a single international application.

– The application procedure: Formal requirements for filing an international registration application with WIPO, the designation of contracting countries, and the management of fees.

– Examination and publication: How WIPO handles formal examination, the publication mechanisms in the International Designs Bulletin, and the grounds for possible refusal by national intellectual property offices.

– Management and renewal of titles: The procedures for amending, assigning, maintaining, or renewing international registrations over time in a centralized manner.
