Hej, my name is Morten Bow Jacobsen. I’m a partner at Jon Palle Pool, a Danish law firm based in Copenhagen. I have been working at our firm for more than 20 years and I head our dispute resolution team. So my work is primarily related to commercial litigation and arbitration.
We have despite our firms relatively modest size been involved in many of the most complex and high profile disputes in Denmark in the last 10 years. This is as we see a testament to our capabilities and continued recognition within the Danish dispute resolution arena. Also our size ensures that we have sufficient capacity to handle large and complex cases and that unlike the largest firms we rarely have any conflicts of interest when handling our cases we focus on take an interest in and are able to understand the
mechanisms within the parties businesses and products that are relevant to the case. We also focus focuses on our communication to ensure that the court understands and are able to explain even complex and technical arguments in a easily understandable manner which ensures that all our arguments are understood and considered by the judges.
Our team handles all kinds of commercial disputes. To name some examples, we handle insurance disputes, professional liability, post M& law disputes, and disputes related to real estate here under the construction and leash contracts. We also handle enforcement and attachment procedures for international clients.
Generally speaking, we handle cases involving complex legal issues, intricate technical matters and matters of principles as well as straightforward cases. Also, we handle cases involving both small and large claims. Most recently, in January this year, following a 10-year legal battle and 50 days of hearings at the high court, we succeeded in securing an acquidal for our clients in a case involving a claim of 2 billion Danish crowner in what was argonally the most high profile commercial litigation case in Denmark.
The case arose from an IPO followed by a bankruptcy some eight months later and the claim was directed against members of the management, members of the board, the owner and the auditor. Our clients who were board members of the company were as I said acquitted whose two members of the management team were found liable for damages.
The reason why we joined global law expert was the very impressive size of the international network which we wanted to be part of.
