In today’s Q&A we have Irena Kolárová, our M&A expert in Czech Republic.
Irena Kolárová is a Czech attorney who has built her practice around M&A and corporate governance within top-tier international and Czech firms. Her early legal education was at the Faculty of Law of Palacký University in Olomouc, where she participated in a six-month Erasmus program in Rotterdam in 2004, focusing on international business. She graduated in 2005 and immediately began practicing law, launching her career as a corporate lawyer for BLATA, a renowned minibike manufacturer, where she worked on anti-counterfeiting and IP-related matters and even dealt with cross-border enforcement efforts in places including Malta. This early experience exemplified her hands-on, cross-border mindset and her willingness to engage with complex commercial issues from the outset.

My name is Arena Koladova and I’m a partner to a law firm Koladva Legal. I’m seated in Prague in Czech Republic and I have more than 23 years of practice. I work as a specialist in M&A corporate cross-border transactions and also in shareholders disputes. my main topic now is holding structures, trust funds and also these shareholders disputes. I worked previously with big four like KPMG legal. So I’m very used to work with qualified tax advisors
auditors and accountants and I’m used to drive the projects. I I always say that I want to have a team and I am building a team that is very senior one. So I have like very senior members on my team and I really focus on getting as much knowledge and education and expertise as possible. So for me it’s like also about expanding beyond law. So most of my team members are also experts in negotiation. they are like qualified in economics understanding the business
more in depth. So that’s where I really want to be a helpful hand for a business owners for managers of big corporations and I think I’m used to the perfectionism in my work.
we usually work for corporations business owners family businesses and also high-end individuals. Sometimes we also work with qualified investors for their specific needs. I really loved studying at Arasmus University in Rotterdam. So I have my let’s say experience from educational experience from abroad which was very important because it was international sales law. but let’s say it’s education but if we are talking about projects and clients I think the main highlight in my projects
was working on a division and split of the biggest e-commerce group in the Europe it was a very fastpaced project the shareholders wanted us to do it very very very fast So this was very interesting. I also was working on with a property developer for a quite long time over 10 years with the transformation of companies within their group. that was I would say significant for me and I worked on transformations of companies that were also crossborder.
Yeah. So I have experience with the working with the jurisdiction in Cyprus with Netherlands with Denmark you can name it some some other countries too Romania for example it was very interesting project and I have experience in extensive due diligences and many transactions of billions of euro
my main reason of joining Global Law Experts is I would love to have for my clients some a broad connections because my clients are expanding their businesses outside the Czech Republic and I want to give them possible references to qualified people that are specialist in their area and I can be proud of that connection and that the project is going well and I want to be ready to help the clients with what they need in their business.
