My name is Alexandro Gravante. I’m an Italian lawyer and I’m a senior partner at Jambbron Partners International Law Firm, a law firm based in Italy. We have seven office in in Italy and my main area of specialist is cross cross-border family matters mainly foreign people living in Italy and needing advice on family law or in child proceedings or divorce proceeding or u clients living abroad with a court case in in Italy.

And my main focus is to assist these clients in order to help them in understanding the Italian legal system on family law. And I also provide expert opinion for a foreign course mainly US course and English course on Italian family law and on child relocation in Italy from abroad.

Well, my primary practice area is family law is cross crossborder matters between Italy and other countries. And in respect to this, what is my main focus is to help people in order to understand the Italian legal system. I always assist foreign clients in Italy in divorce proceeding, child proceedings, adoption proceedings when they are involved in a court case in Italy. I also work with foreign lawyers assisting them in foreign jurisdiction mainly because in cross-border family matters most of the times there are two court proceedings pending in

different jurisdiction. So it’s important always to the clients who that wer sides the court sites jurisdiction. So is important to get advice before applying the Italian courts in order to secure what is the best jurisdiction in order to apply for divorce, child proceedings or separation or separation proceedings.

The typical cases I work on are crossborder matters. 99% of my clients are foreign clients with court proceedings in in Italy. So the except then divorce proceeding and child proceedings. I assist local authority in the UK in order to place children in Italy and I also provide expert opinion on family law, Italian family law when the Italian law must be applied in other jurisdiction and in other countries because sometimes if both parties for example are Italian citizen living abroad even if there is a court case a

divorce case in the foreign court they may apply the Italian law if they choose the Italian law. So this is what I mostly engage my time with my clients. In respect to my practice in the last 25 years I focus also on child abduction proceedings. In the last 10 years, I’ve been working a lot on child abduction proceedings both when the children are moved and lovely to Italy or are retained in in Italy and then we need to apply the Italian course in order to get

the return order. And I also assist clients who are in the in the position that the child the children has been abducted and returned in other countries. In the last two years, I’ve been able to return probably more than 15 children to their home country. And this is a big pleasure for me because this is a kind of restoring the family life for many parents. And another important achievement I believe has been done in the last year in Italy. We have been able to get an order from an

Italian court to place the children in a divorce a complex divorce proceedings in New York living 50% of the time with the father and 50% of the time with the mother in the family home meaning that the children live in the family home and parents must alternate on a weekly basis. This is quite an innovative decision in the Italian landscape and in the last year one of my best the one of the best opportunity to provide my services has been providing a

legal opinion in person in the court of Johannesburg in the high court where I went to explain to the judge the family law in Italy and the community of assets principle in in Italy because Italian law was applied in this court proceedings divorce proceeding in Johannesburg and the court needed to understand the law to be applied. This has been a fantastic experience from my side going for two days to South Africa to appear in a court and explain to judges what is the Italian legal system.
