Warren Beech

Warren provides multi-disciplinary services with a particular focus on health, safety environment, regulatory and criminal, but has also been involved in a large number of significant mining transactions.

Warren is a well-known and passionate public speaker and is frequently quoted in print and digital media. Warren Beech has been practicing for almost thirty years, during which time he has developed a highly recognised and specialised practice in relation to the mining, natural resources, infrastructure and projects sectors.

Warren consults locally and internationally and has represented mining and non-mining companies in a vast number of fatal inquiries and inquests arising out of workplace incidents and accidents. Warren and his team have most recently conducted global compliance audits (including in eight African jurisdictions) for major global companies who operate in the highly complex mining and natural resources sector, renewable energy companies, agriculture, fast moving consumer goods, and telecommunications.

Recognised for his contribution to the mining and natural resources sector by several industry bodies, including association affiliated to the Minerals Council (previously the Chamber of Mines) he has participated in various industry-specific bodies on developments, including legislative amendments, at the request of the regulators.

Warren has been ranked band 1 in Chambers and Partners as a leading lawyer in mining, energy & natural resources, and health & safety for many years, including 2023. He has been acknowledged as a highly regarded lawyer in South Africa for mining by IFLR1000 for many years, including 2022 and 2023. He has been recognised by Best Lawyers as a leader in the field in mining law and as a top lawyer in environmental and mining law by Who’s Who Legal for several years.  He has also recently been recognised by The Legal 500 as a leading individual in mining for Europe, Middle East and Africa. He is a recipient of the Lawyer Monthly Legal Awards for mining, South Africa 2023.
