Leon Gan Han Chen

Leon’s areas of practice encompass real estate, corporate, commercial, and mergers & acquisitions. He is recognised as a key lawyer in Real Estate and Construction by The Legal 500, Asia Pacific 2023 edition, and is experienced in handling variety of real estate transactions such as land acquisitions, joint ventures, distressed assets, rental or lease schemes, special development areas, strata management, and extends to advising financial institutions on real estate related financing.

Leon’s experience with corporate and commercial matters extends to representing and advising clients on mergers & acquisitions, due diligence, corporate and commercial advisory in trade and technology industry.

Experience

• Acted and advised developers, financiers, and state government on private lease schemes in the special administrative region of Iskandar, Johore, Malaysia.
• Advised a Malaysian company on its proposed acquisition of a distressed, under-construction mixed development comprising of a retail mall and residential towers for a total consideration of RM180m.
• Advised a Malaysian public listed financial institution on its innovative home ownership financial product based on the Islamic concept of Ijarah.
• Advised a Malaysian public listed company on the development, licensing and sale of a tokenisation service solution for e-commerce transactions’ payment with Malaysia’s shared payments network infrastructure company.
• Advised a Malaysian public listed company on its acquisition of 100% stake in a payment solutions software sale and maintenance company.
