Dr. Oswald Niederkofler

Dr. Oswald Niederkofler, a native Italian, is a German Patent Attorney, a European Patent Attorney and a European Trademark and Design Attorney. He is working in the area of intellectual property since 1992 and has extensive experience in national and international patent and trademark prosecution, litigation and licensing.

He holds a diploma in physics from the Technical University of Munich and attained a doctorate in semiconductor physics. During his studies he specialised in electronics (microelectronics, integrated circuits, etc.) and data processing. His main fields of technical expertise are integrated circuits, semiconductor and laser technology, opto-electronics and sensors, information and communication technology, as well as telecommunication. After finishing his studies, he worked in the R&D department of Siemens AG on the development of new optical semiconductor devices.

Beside his prosecution practice, in the last years Dr. Oswald Niederkofler focused on the representation of clients in opposition and appeal proceedings before the German and European Patent Office and nullity proceedings before the German Federal Patent Court and the German Federal Supreme Court of Justice. He is regularly involved in litigation proceedings often in an international cross border context and multi-patent battle, both on the offensive and defensive side.

Dr. Oswald Niederkofler is an active member of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Germany.
