Anomi Wanigasekera

About the Lawyer

Anomi is the Senior Partner of Julius & Creasy and heads our Intellectual Property Group. She has extensive experience in the full range of enforcement, management and transactional matters pertaining to intellectual property law, including representing clients before the National Intellectual Property Office, acting for multinationals as well as Sri Lankan conglomerates in respect of infringement actions, applying for injunctions and search and/or seizure orders. She also overlooks the drafting and reviewing of contracts and advises on regulatory compliance matters.

Experience

Anomi Wanigasekera has over four decades of professional experience in intellectual property law, with a strong focus on litigation. She has been with Julius & Creasy since May 1984 and was called to the bar in April 1984. Throughout her career, she has represented clients in a wide range of contentious matters, including infringement actions before the Commercial High Court and, where necessary, criminal proceedings before the Magistrate’s Court. She has acted for both multinational corporations and Sri Lankan conglomerates, handling complex disputes and providing strategic litigation advice.

Specialty

Anomi specializes in intellectual property litigation, including trademark, patent, and copyright disputes. Her litigation practice covers both contentious and non-contentious matters, such as opposition proceedings at the National Intellectual Property Office, infringement actions, and IP due diligence. She is experienced in applying for injunctions, search and seizure orders, and advising on regulatory compliance in the context of litigation.

Education

Anomi Wanigasekera holds an LLM from Wales and has obtained post-attorney diplomas in Intellectual Property Law, International Trade Law, and Banking and Insurance Law from the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies of the Incorporated Council of Legal Education. She is qualified as an Attorney-at-Law and Notary Public.
