Ontario’s 2026 Construction Act Amendments: What Contractors & Owners Must Change Now

As of January 1, 2026, new rules are in effect for Ontario’s Construction Act, most notably annual holdback release on multi-year projects and an expanded adjudication regime. However, readers are cautioned that long term projects where the contract or procurement pre-date July 1, 2018 are still subject to the old regime.
