Vanuatu is a beautiful country made up of roughly over 80 tropical islands located in the South Pacific Ocean. It has stunning landscapes, pristine beaches, and a relaxed lifestyle. Foreigners can become citizens of Vanuatu by investing in the country’s economy through a unique Vanuatu Citizenship Investment program, which is also the only citizenship-by-investment program available within the Asia-Pacific Region.
In this article, we will discuss the Vanuatu Citizenship cost, the advantages, disadvantages, time, process, and its popularity amongst American investors.
The first major advantage of the Vanuatu citizenship by investment program is that Vanuatu’s passport grants visa-free travel to over 100 countries. Depending on your current nationality, this can be a significant benefit for frequent travellers and international businessmen. It also allows citizens to apply for an online visa or long-term visa for Australia, and they can live there if they wish.
Secondly, Vanuatu has a favourable tax regime with no income tax, wealth tax, capital gains tax, or inheritance tax – which is a big positive, especially for high-net-worth individuals looking to minimize their tax liabilities. Additionally, Vanuatu is an ideal location for offshore company registrations and offshore banking services.
Next you can include your spouse, dependent children up to the age of 25, and your parents. Additionally, although the Vanuatu citizenship price is not the lowest amongst all counties, it is one of the lowest.
Lastly, the requirements of the program are not difficult. There is no residency requirement at all, and you are not required to go to Vanuatu. There are also no education or career experience requirements, and almost all nationalities, including Americans, are eligible.
Furthermore, both English and French are official languages. Therefore though there are no language requirements, this makes it accessible to a large proportion of people and again is popular with Americans.
The process of obtaining Vanuatu citizenship by investment is relatively straightforward and takes on average, 1-2 months. The first step is to choose an authorized agent who will help with the Vanuatu citizenship application process. The authorized agent will provide the necessary documents and guide the applicant through the process.
The second step is for the applicant to make an initial non-refundable payment of USD 7,000 to the Government Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) to obtain your Due Diligence Clearance. After obtaining the clearance, the applicant can submit the full application for citizenship.
Next, Vanuatu Citizenship cost, a one-time non-refundable payment to the government’s Development Support Program is required. The minimum investment requirements for the Development Support Program are as follows:
The applicant must also undergo a medical examination and obtain police clearance certificates from their country of origin. The Citizenship Commission then issues a final approval. The Applicant must then attend a ceremony to take their Oath as a Vanuatu citizen (the oath ceremony can occur abroad, though conditions do apply).
After taking the Oath, the applicant can then receive their Vanuatu passport and citizenship certificate.
In conclusion, the Vanuatu citizenship by investment program offers many advantages, including visa-free travel, a favourable tax regime, and a fast and efficient process.
It is important to note that Vanuatu’s citizenship by investment program is subject to change.
Applicants should consult with authorized agents and stay up to date on any changes to the program’s requirements and regulations.
