Jonathan Punter

Jonathan is CEO of the Punter Southall Group, the fifth largest pension consultancy in the UK.  Jonathan heads up the Punter Southall Group’s expert witness services team.  He is highly regarded in the pension and investment industry and has a credible track record of giving expert evidence in court.  Jonathan can draw upon more than 35 years experience in the actuarial profession where he has built up a wealth of knowledge and practical experience during the course of a long and varied career.

Jonathan is supported by a team of experienced professional staff, made up of pension and investment actuaries. Where appropriate, Jonathan and the team can also draw upon the expertise of other specialists from across the Group’s businesses.

Jonathan is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries, holds the role of Scheme Actuary for several defined benefit pension schemes and is regulated to provide investment advice by the Financial Conduct Authority.

Jonathan is also a director of Punter Southall Financial Management, a firm of independent financial advisors, as well as a director of a number of

investment funds. He has been non-executive chairman of Neptune Investment Management since 2002. Jonathan is also a non-executive director of River and Mercantile Group plc, an investment consulting business for institutional clients.

Jonathan began his actuarial career with Duncan C Fraser & Co in 1978 after graduating from Bristol University with a degree in mathematics. Within seven years Jonathan became a partner, before the company was acquired by William M Mercer. In 1988, Jonathan founded Punter Southall together with Stuart Southall.
