As seen on SEC’s Official Facebook – The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), in coordination with the Exchanges, is establishing a regulatory framework for Market Making in listed securities as part of its ongoing efforts to revitalize capital market activity and align local market practices with international standards.
On June 17, the Commission issued for public comment the draft SEC Rules on Market Making, which set out the eligibility requirements for Market Makers, their disclosure, recordkeeping, and reporting obligations, as well as investor protection and market integrity safeguards.
Market Making is a globally adopted mechanism that enhances liquidity, facilitates efficient price discovery, and promotes orderly trading, thereby contributing to capital formation and overall capital market development.
