Efrem Urumashvili is one of the leading Business Law Firm’s partner and qualified Georgian Tax lawyer. He has more than 13 years work experience in terms of domestic taxation. He is a frequent speaker on international tax issues and has wide experience in Tax disputes as well.
Efrem Urumashvili became partner of “Nodia, Urumashvili and partners” from 2010. Prior to becoming a partner he served as Deputy Financial Director in Tax direction at “Bank of Georgia” JSC in 2007-2010. From 2000 to 2007, he held various positions at “Bank of Georgia” JSC , he was Head of Taxation Division in Finance Department in 2000-2005 and Head of Accounting and Taxation Division at the same Department in 2005-2007. He also worked as a Financial Analyst at “Tbilcombank” in 1999-2000.
At present Mr. Urumashvili is Member of Tax Explanation Commission in Revenue Service of Georgia, and the Chief advisor of President Association of Banks of Georgia.
Mr. Urumashvili received his under graduated degree from Tbilisi State University, faculty of Economics, Accounting and Auditing Review. Later he obtained Master degree at the same field. He wasparticipated in numerous international seminars, trainings and workshops. In 2008 he was participating in the seminar on double taxation agreements organized by IBFD International Tax Academy in Amsterdam,as well as seminars organized by OECD on international taxation issues.
Much of his work involves advice to the management about the risks and the avoidance of claims, and assist clients to resolve tax issues early and cost-effectively. His scope of activity spreads over the tax field, which includes Tax law, as well as tax disputes, transfer pricing and double taxation agreements, at the same time it also includes operational risks analysis and planning in connection with tax risks in view of banking-finance.
Efrem is listed as a leading individual for Tax Law by Legal 500, in 2012.
