He is a principal attorney at BlackBox Startup Law a law firm focused on servicing startups expanding to Latin America, and Mexican based startups through all their stages, as well as their stakeholders, such as founders, angel investors, venture capital firms and investment funds. He is the co-founder of Bolido App a Mexican startup that helps international brands (Audi, Volkswagen, 3M, Continental Tire, L’Oréal, among others) launch their innovation projects in Latin America; founding this startup helped Victor get a close look on startups’ needs.
For 5 years he worked at a big firm, Creel, García-Cuéllar, Aiza y Enríquez, S.C., providing counsel primarily to American firms and corporations (of various industries) in merger and acquisition-related matters, real estate investments, spin-offs, joint-ventures, securities and corporate finance. To mention a few matters, he was actively involved with the global corporate reorganization of Tyco Group Inc., the issuance by Deutsche Bank of securities backed by Class B Asset-Backed Mezzanine Notes, and the regulated sale by Tyco International Ltd. (NYSE: TYC) of Earth Tech Mexico to AECOM Technology Corporation (NYSE: ACM).
Afterwards, for 3 years he worked at a boutique finance law firm, Bufete Carrillo Gamboa, S.C., acting as Mexican counsel to domestic and international banks, securities issuers, credit rating agencies, non-bank banks, and other financial institutions. He also advised American private equity firms in the acquisition of Mexican companies, and international casino gaming machine manufacturers with their sale and finance agreements. He provided regulatory counsel to Moody’s Investor Service, JP Morgan Chase Bank, VECTOR Casa de Bolsa, S.A. de C.V., Casa de Bolsa Finamex, S.A.B. de C.V., International Game Technology (IGT) and the Inspired Gaming Group Limited. Also, he provided Mexican legal consultation to international law firms (such as, Kirkland & Ellis, LLP, Dechert LLP, and DLA Piper UK LLP).
Victor holds a Masters in Tax and Administrative Law from Centro Universitario de Estudios Jurídicos (CUEJ) and a Degree in Banking and Financial Law from Instituto Tecnologico Autonomo de Mexico (ITAM) and is a lawyer from the same institute. He also has a Diploma in Semiotics from the Instituto de Semiologia, S.C. He is fluent in English and Spanish.
