The firm’s founder, Stephan Michaelis, has specialized in insurance brokerage law and insurance law for over 37 years. This began with his professional training as an insurance salesman and culminated in the founding of the Michaelis Attorneys at Law firm over 25 years ago (1998).

The Michaelis law firm supports insurance brokers and their policyholders in all legal matters with a large team of experts. Within the framework of the various specializations in insurance brokerage law, Attorney Michaelis has the specialist qualifications for

In addition to his training as a business mediator and his Master of Insurance Laws (LL.M.), he has published numerous specialist publications. The German Insurance Journal (ZfV) even published a special issue specifically for the Michaelis Law Firm , featuring a selection of his specialist articles from the past 25 years.

It is also worth noting that he is co-author of the practical commentary on the Insurance Contract Act (VVG) for the areas of distribution law and the Insurance Intermediary Regulation (VersVermV). The experienced practitioner also explained the essential sections of the Trade Regulation Act (GewO) for insurance brokers in the VVG commentary.

His specialist book “The Rights and Duties of Insurance Brokers” has now been published in its fourth edition. His colleague Vincent Jacobsen also contributed to the most recent revision.

Another publication with significant practical relevance for insurance brokers is the “Compendium for Insurance Brokers .” Attorney Michaelis presents over 100 different contract templates and documents that insurance brokers can use in their daily practice.

Attorney Michaelis also created the website www.app-riori.de . Insurance brokers can access a wide range of additional legal assistance free of charge here. Among other things, an insurance broker contract or a service agreement can be created using a modular system. The content (contract templates) from the compendium for insurance brokers are also available digitally here.

Attorney Michaelis is also proud that an insurance product bears his name. He has contributed to what he considers to be the best professional indemnity insurance for insurance brokers and has developed a very comprehensive coverage concept. The product is called All-Risk Michaelis Cover and is a highly effective professional indemnity insurance policy for insurance brokers.

Attorney Michaelis has also succeeded in offering the framework agreement partners, the so-called long-term consulting clients of the Michaelis Law Firm, another highlight in addition to legal advice. Each long-term consulting client of the Michaelis Law Firm receives an excess insurance sum of €15 million on top of their existing insurance coverage as an agent, which is available to all long-term consulting clients of the Michaelis Law Firm once a year.
