About Nuno de Miranda Catanas
Nuno is the firm´s founding partner and heads the Corporate Transactions and Investment Projects group. Nuno has been heavily involved in international transactions for 20-plus years, handling corporate and commercial issues. Nuno practiced for five (5) years in South-east Asia, notably in Macao and Hong Kong SARs and acted as Foreign Legal Consultant in Houston, Texas for a period of two (2) years, advising petroleum service providers primarily on Angolan law. Nuno is a licensed lawyer in Angola, Portugal and Macao.
In Angola, Nuno has been involved in many major high-profile transactions, with a special emphasis on corporate and investment law for the following industry sectors:
- ENERGY (PETROLEUM AND POWER GENERATION): In the Energy field, Nuno has significant experience in assisting oil-field contractors in their operations, including corporate, foreign exchange (payment structures), customs and environmental/ regulatory legal issues and other day-to-day business matters.
- CORPORATE, BANKING, FINANCING (both the regulatory and restructuring, as well as providing advice on loans and financing structures): Nuno has also assisted a significant number of major international financial and banking institutions both on establishing and/or restructuring their business, as well as assisting them in the granting of finance to the Angolan State and private entities in infrastructure projects.
- CONSTRUCTION AND REAL ESTATE (major real estate projects for residential and office purposes, as well infrastructure projects): In recent years Nuno has been working closely with both real estate developers (land law issues), as well as with construction companies, including major international engineering and construction groups.
