Nathan is an experienced M&A lawyer with over 25 years of experience. He is wholly focused on acting on private company M&A and private equity transactions and private equity fund formation. He acts for a number of the leading private equity funds in Western Canada, as well as family offices, entrepreneurs, strategic acquirers, management teams, and US purchasers making acquisitions in Canada.
Nathan is particularly adept at explaining customary market terms, keeping the transaction on track and preserving the relationships between the parties in transactions – whether he is acting for a Canadian or US PE fund, strategic buyer or other sophisticated purchaser where the vendor and its counsel have very little M&A experience, or if he is acting for a first-time vendor dealing with a sophisticated purchaser.
In addition to working on deals across Canada, Nathan also has significant international deal experience, advising on many Canada/US cross-border acquisitions and private equity transactions, as well as UK and European transactions. He worked for several years in the London office of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP, a leading international firm. Nathan was called to the British Columbia Bar in 1995 and became a member of the Law Society of England & Wales in 1999.
