Michael’s areas of expertise are oil & gas, mining, securities, public companies and banking and financing, including the negotiating, drafting and settling of complex documents used in the oil and gas industry as well as agreements with the Independent State of Papua New Guinea, joint venture agreements, unitisation agreements, cost sharing agreements, transportation and lifting agreements, gas sales agreements and farm-in and farm-out documents.

Michael has extensive oil, gas and mining industry experience at all levels including 12 years’ experience working as general counsel and group secretary for ASX listed oil and gas company Oil Search Limited.
Subsequent to that, Michael was executive general manager legal and general counsel for Lihir Gold Limited.
Michael was also a partner at Gadens Ridgeway, a senior associate at Freehill Hollingdale & Page and the Bank of Tokyo’s Sydney Representative.
Michael is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries (London), a Fellow of the Corporate Governance Institute of Australia and a Fellow of the Society of Notaries (Australia & New Zealand).
A qualified company secretary and a public notary in New South Wales, Michael is admitted to practise as a solicitor in New South Wales (1983), PNG (1993) and England and Wales (2012).
Michael is currently President of the PNG-European Union Business Council and a full voting member of the Science & Technology Council of Papua New Guinea (PNG’s peak science and technology research body).
