About Madeleine Mendy
Madeleine is a Partner at Bin Sevan Advocates and is the Head of their Family Law Department, which she started over 6 years ago. Her main areas of practice are HNW divorces, children matters and cross-border kidnappings.
After practising as a family law lawyer in England for a number of years, Madeleine moved to Dubai a decade ago, and developed a niche practice in the city, mainly representing and advising Dubai and Abu Dhabi-based expatriates on complex and multi-jurisdictional divorces in the United Arab Emirates and the English courts.
Madeleine has a genuine passion for family law. She has developed a strong understanding and expertise of the application of the Sharia based, UAE Personal status law and has been to able provide Expatriate clients with tailor made advice, to obtain divorces that will be recognised in the UAE and their home countries. She advises expatriates throughout the Gulf region.
She also provides general counsel services to selected HNW clients and child protection advice to schools. She has been working closely with the British consulate in the UAE for a number of years.
Madeleine is ranked Band 1 by Chambers and Partners in the High Net Worth category and is a member of several legal organisations in England and the UAE.
Madeleine has also been teaching family law at the Middlesex University, Dubai Campus for over 6 years.
