Kurt heads the corporate, mergers and acquisitions, finance and investment services practice at GVZH Advocates.
He started his career in the investment services and funds team at the firm where he accumulated extensive experience in investment funds and financial services regulation.
Since then, he has successfully led several financial services licensing projects including various types of collective investment scheme structures (UCITS and AIFs), investment services providers such as fund administrators and investment brokers and financial institutions (Payment Services Providers and Electronic Money Institutions).
Kurt is regularly engaged in cross border corporate acquisitions across various industry sectors, complex corporate restructurings and assists credit institutions and lending syndicates or borrowers in financing transactions.

Kurt Hyzler graduated Doctor of Laws from the University of Malta in 2006 after submitting a doctoral thesis entitled ‘The Principle of Pari Passu in Corporate Insolvency Law’. Kurt was awarded the Chevening Scholarship in 2006 in order to further his studies at Queen Mary University London wherein 2007 he obtained a Master of Law degree from the University of London in Banking and Finance Law after sitting for examinations in Company Law, International Finance Law, Financial Services Law and Corporate Insolvency Law.
