About Koen Hoornaert
Koen Hoornaert is partner in the corporate law practice at Van Olmen & Wynant.
Koen has a broad experience in all aspects of corporate law, in particular, regarding Belgian and cross-border mergers & acquisitions and private equity. He advises Belgian and foreign clients especially on share and assets acquisitions, mergers, divestitures, corporate reorganizations, corporate governance and general corporate law questions. In addition, Koen has a special focus on advising family businesses, their shareholders and directors.
Koen is also a voluntary scientific collaborator at the Institute for commercial and insolvency law at the University of Leuven (KU Leuven). He was admitted to the Brussels bar and New York State bar in 2011.
Koen graduated from Ghent University in 2009 (UGent) and was an exchange student at American University Washington College of Law in 2007. As a fellow of the Belgian American Educational Foundation (B.A.E.F.) and Francqui Foundation, Koen obtained an LL.M. in International Business and Economic Law from Georgetown University Law Center in 2010 and was the class’ valedictorian. Koen also obtained a Master in American Studies at the University of Antwerp (UA) in 2011.
Before joining Van Olmen & Wynant in 2019, Koen worked for many years at the world’s premier global law firm. Koen was an assistant teacher at the law faculty of the University of Leuven (KU Leuven) for several years.
