With a primary focus on indirect tax litigation and advisory, Ivy is dedicated to tailoring solutions for clients grappling with intricate tax challenges, especially with the Royal Malaysian Customs Department (Customs). Her extensive experience is evident as she adeptly navigates complex indirect tax matters, covering sales and service tax (SST), goods and service tax (GST), customs duty (including import duty and export duty), and matters related to licensed warehouses, licensed manufacturing warehouses, and duty-free shops.
Her advisory strength encompasses a broad range of technical issues, spanning SST exemptions, Customs’ valuations, nuances of GST/SST transitional matters, voluntary disclosures, Customs’ penalties, and the intricacies of indirect tax planning and restructuring. Ivy’s diverse client portfolio includes multinational corporations, manufacturers, property developers, construction firms, utility companies, government-linked entities, and esteemed financial institutions.
Ivy provides training and seminars on indirect tax to clients. She is a regular speaker at the Chartered Tax Institute of Malaysia and the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers, and she frequently contributes to various tax publications. Ivy was called to the English Bar in 2013 and is a member of the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn before being admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2016.
