Experience

Evangelos (Evans) N. Courakis is a partner at Koutalidis Law Firm where he heads the Energy and Infrastructure practice. He has extensive experience in project development, particularly in the RES industry with a focus on PV, BESS and Wind projects. Evans has always been at the forefront of Energy law-related developments in the Greek market, being one of the first ever Greek lawyers to have been involved extensively in greenfield project development during Greece’s first major RES development wave. He is currently involved in RES projects with an envisaged capacity exceeding 15 GW. On a daily basis, he oversees high-value due diligence exercises for the acquisition of several projects by foreign investors, negotiates and drafts multiple complex contractual documents (including, SPAs, JVAs, DSAs, PDAs, SHAs, and Grid Connection / Substation Sharing arrangements).

Evangelos Courakis specializes in energy law, international arbitration, litigation, concessions, privatizations, and contract law related to corporate, energy, and construction sectors. He is known for his expertise in both traditional and renewable energy law, advising investors on acquisitions of wind farms and gas turbine projects. His arbitration and litigation work is highly regarded, with a strong track record in handling major domestic and international disputes. Education

Evangelos Courakis earned his LL.B. and B.Phil. from Athens University. He further obtained an LL.M. from Cambridge University, specializing in Commercial Law and International Commercial Litigation. He is also a certified mediator through the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR).
