Relevant Cases 2020- Currently acting as lead counsel in an investor vs state arbitration under a multilateral investment treaty, involving a Mexican construction company against a Central-American government. 2020- Currently collaborating as cocounsel in a commercial arbitration dispute against a central American government agency before the Permanent Court of Arbitration. 2020 –
  • Currently serving as sole Arbitrator in an ICDR case, involving a British Cruise Line and a Sea fearer from Montenegro.
  • 2019 – 2020 Counsel for defendants in ICDR arbitration. Case involved the sale of ownership in a Mexican corporation to US investors, and the alleged violation of a non-competition clause.
  • 2019- Succeeded in obtaining the recognition of a US Judgment for $500,000 US dollars before the Federal Courts in Mexicali, against US Citizens and Mexican corporations all domiciled in Mexico.
  • 2019 – Sole arbitrator in an ICC in a claim involving a subcontractor vs a main contractor with regards to the building of electric generation plant in Mexico.
  • 2019 Chairman in an ICDR case involving a real estate development joint venture in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico.
  • 2018 Sole Arbitrator in an ICDR case, involving a cruise line and a Sea fearer.
  • 2016-2019, defended a Mexican joint venture against in an arbitration under the ICC Rules, involving claims from a subcontractor involved in the development of a wind farm in Mexico.
  • During 2014-2015, served as sole arbitrator under the rules of the International Chamber of Commerce in a dispute involving an industrial park developer and a purchaser of property in the State of Queretaro, Mexico.
  • In 2013, enforced a foreign judgment and settlement rendered in Nevada in a dispute involving real estate holdings in Rosarito, Baja California, Mexico.
  • In 2012, successfully defended a Mexican Party from the enforcement of an arbitration award issued under the rules of the International Cotton Association, in Liverpool, England.
  • During 2011-2012, served as arbitrator under the rules of the Mexican Arbitration Center in an automotive lubricant distribution agreement dispute in southern Mexico.
  • In 2010, successfully defended a Mexican Corporation in a multi-million dollar international arbitration dispute under the rules of the International Chamber of Commerce, derived from an international corporate joint venture.
  • In 2007, obtained an arbitral award for over $400,000 US Dollars, in an arbitration administered under the rules of the Mexican Arbitration Center applying the UNIDROIT Principles 2004. Award appears on-line at the UNILEX Database http://www.unilex.info/case.cfm?pid=2&id=1149&do=case.
  • In 2005, obtained the recognition in Mexico of a US Judgment for $65 million dollars rendered as damages by a District Court in California, from the theft of the domain “sex.com”.

The International Trade Center is joint WTO and UNCTAD organization. In January of 2008, he participated as a panelist at an international Seminar in Mexico City, on International Contracts and Arbitration, organized by the National Autonomous University of Mexico.
  • In May 2006, he participated as a panelist in the Hemispheric Trade Conference, organized by UNCITRAL, US AID, hosted by Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. He participated in the panel discussing international dispute resolution.
  • In November 2005, he was a panelist at an event that organized by UNCITRAL and the University of Pittsburgh, entitled “The CISG Digest as a Contract Drafting Tool”. Collaboration appeared in a book published by Oxford University Press.
  • In March 2005, he was a panelist at the 25th anniversary of the United Nation’s Convention on the International Sale of Goods an event that took place in Vienna, Austria, organized by the United Nation’s Commission on International Trade Law. His collaboration appears on-line at the UNCITRAL website and in a special edition of the Journal of Law and Commerce of the University of Pittsburgh.
