Sumit Sen

Sumit Sen is a Barrister and Solicitor and Canadian Immigration Lawyer, is a Member of the Alberta Bar, a speaker, author and visiting professor.

Sumit Sen is the Managing Partner of SEN LAW, a boutique Canadian immigration law firm with offices in Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, Montreal, London, New Delhi and Dubai.
SEN LAW specializes in Business Immigration Law, LMIA-compliant Work Permit, and Immigration Litigation.

He is a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University Refugee Studies Centre. He wrote his PhD thesis “International Refugee Law in South Asia” at the London School of Economics. He has read for a Masters of Laws (LLM) at the University of London, an MPhil in International Law and MA at the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, and a BA and LLB in India.

Sumit Sen worked for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Geneva and worldwide. He co-authored “The State of the World’s Refugees”. He has been widely published in books and international journals.

Sumit Sen has over 30 years of professional experience in Immigration and Refugee Law. He represents clients at the Federal Court of Canada, the Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB), at Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), at Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).

He advises a number of large-to-medium sized Canadian corporations on employer-compliant LMIA and Work Permit, including leading multinational companies with more than 10,000 employees and revenue of $5billion.

Sumit Sen regularly advises Business Immigration clients – Investors and Entrepreneur – from South Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

He advises the United Nations (UN) and other international organizations in the areas of international law, human rights law, refugee law and internal displacement and population movements.

Sumit Sen is a Member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Canadian Immigration Lawyers Association and the Canadian Association of Refugee Lawyers.

He is a Board Member of numerous organizations, including Vice- President (former), Canadian Association of Rhodes Scholars (CARS), Member, Legacy Team, Indian Association of Rhodes Scholars (IARS) Member, London Goodenough Association of Canada (LGAC) and Member, Steering Committee, Old Columbans of Canada (OCC).
