King & Wood Mallesons’ German equity capital market team, led by Christian Cornett and Rudolf Haas, is fully integrated in the firm’s global equity capital markets team. Whereas the capital market teams in other global firm’s are often US or UK focused, KWM’s position is different: next to teams in New York and London, thanks to market leading local capital market teams in Sydney, Hong Kong and Shanghai as well as Beijing or Shenzhen, King & Wood Mallesons‘ global team has over the last ten years worked on many of the world’s landmark transactions.

KWM’s international ECM team combines a deep understanding of all relevant local regimes with in-depth market knowledge – acquired over many years of working at the cutting-edge of capital markets. Next to handling listings, de-listings etc. this includes developing innovative products and structures to help clients growing their businesses. Together with a handful of other global teams, KWM’s team is actively involved in shaping the constantly changing regulatory environment and guiding client’s to the relevant capital markets due to the global team members ability to anticipate issues in advance.

KWM’s global M&A team inter alia acted for the underwriters on the flotation of Alibaba on the New York Stock Exchange – one of the largest-ever IPO in the history of the American capital markets. Similarly, the team has worked on hundreds of listings in Australia or China and many dual-listings, including for example advising on various aspects in the context of the first listing dual-listing on CEINEX (namely Chinese electronic giant Haier’s D-Shares); KWM being a natural choice as the legal architecture of CEINEX (the joint venture between inter alia Shanghai Stock Exchange and Frankfurter Wertpapierbörse) had also been implemented by a global KWM team led by Xu Ping and Christian Cornett.

Christian Cornett is based in KWM’s German office in Frankfurt am Main. Having developed a special focus on public M&A and equity capital markets transactions, he supports clients looking to acquire financial or strategic stakes in enterprises and establishing their European structures. He has been involved in a number of transactions for financial investors, US clients, Chinese clients as well as opportunistic investors. He advises listed companies, financial institutions and investors, including sovereign wealth funds, private equity and hedge funds. Transactions led by Christian Cornett include public-take overs (including taking-privates), block trades and PIPEs (private investment in public equity) as well as other stake buildings etc., working for investment banks, listed companies or investors; recent PIPE transactions include, inter alia, investments in KION AG or Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG.
