Global Law Experts welcomes Atty. Micah Lorelle P. De Guzman as an Exclusive Member for Taxation Law in the Philippines. The appointment recognizes her experience in Philippine tax practice, including tax advisory, compliance, administrative proceedings, assessments, and tax-related disputes, as well as her broader understanding of the corporate and regulatory issues that can shape complex tax matters.

Atty. De Guzman is the Founding and Co-Managing Partner of Go & De Guzman Law Offices (GD Law), a full-service law firm based in Quezon City, Philippines. The firm handles litigation, corporate law, customs, immigration, tax, and special projects.

Her tax practice covers tax advisory and planning, tax compliance and regulatory assistance, audits, assessments and investigations, tax litigation, corporate tax, estate tax planning, local tax, tax incentives and investment structuring, and other specialized tax matters.

Her experience includes serving as Lead Counsel in a ₱57 million obsolescent inventory matter, resulting in the full deduction of the amount from the client’s income tax for the relevant year. She also handled the settlement of a ₱2.5 billion estate before the Bureau of Internal Revenue in less than a year and assisted a major Philippine power generation company in securing a VAT refund of approximately ₱70 million.

Her corporate practice includes serving as Co-Lead Counsel to a Singapore-based fintech company using artificial intelligence, advising on Philippine regulatory requirements, licensing, data governance, and labor and employment compliance. She has also developed regulatory compliance frameworks and environmental impact assessments for a major wind power project.

Aside from her tax practice, Atty. De Guzman also has substantial litigation experience. She has handled administrative and court proceedings and currently serves as Lead Counsel for a high-ranking police officer before the Sandiganbayan. She also served as Lead Counsel for a major manning and shipping company in proceedings involving human trafficking allegations and alleged violations of Department of Migrant Workers policies; all charges were dismissed.

Her combination of tax advisory, compliance, and dispute experience enables her to assist clients both in addressing tax obligations and in responding to assessments and controversies.

Her broader corporate and regulatory experience is relevant where tax issues arise alongside transactions, foreign investment, technology, energy projects, or restructuring. This multidisciplinary background allows her to consider tax questions within the wider legal and commercial context of a client’s matter.
