EU Artificial Intelligence Act Proposal – Introduction

This set of videos intends to present the current AI regulatory framework, with a focus on the Proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council laying down harmonised rules on artificial intelligence (Artificial Intelligence Act).

The AI Act, currently undergoing consultation, is the result of the EU’s intentions of being a global key player in Artificial Intelligence. It addresses issues like the placement of AI systems on the market, prohibited types of AI, rules on high-risk AI, transparency rules on AI that interacts directly with human operators, market monitoring, and surveillance.

This first episode will focus on 4 topics:

• the scope, purpose, and general definitions provided in the Act
• notions on the risk-based approach established by the Act
• prohibited AI practices
• definition of high-risk AI systems.
