Digital therapeutics: an opportunity for Italy, and beyond

On 14 September 2021, the manual “Digital therapeutics: an opportunity for Italy, and beyond” was published by the Smith KLine Foundation’s journal Tendenze Nuove. This publication integrates the pre-existing volume “Terapie digitali, una opportunità per l’Italia”, published (in Italian only) in January 2021.

The publication aims to guide the introduction of digital therapeutics (DTx) in medical practice, both in Italy and abroad, and was developed with the contribution of about 40 experts from the clinical, academic, regulatory, industrial and health economy fields.

The volume focuses on explaining how digital therapies work, how to manage their regulatory and clinical aspects, what is their access/reimbursement policies in countries that have them in use, what is their contribution to national health systems and patients’ health.

Silvia Stefanelli, as a lawyer with specific expertise in the digital health field, has contributed on the chapters “How to manage regulatory aspects for digital therapeutics”, “Data protection and cybersecurity in digital therapeutics”, “Digital therapeutics: ethical aspects”.
