Throughout his career, he has established himself as an independent and renowned lawyer, intervening in the great causes of society and law, building a national and international reputation;

Known for his strong and consistent civic participation; in particular, the defense of the fundamental and civil rights of citizens, defense of the ethical-social concept of law as a means to achieve justice and safeguarding rights, and balanced advice based on ethics, embodied in law;

Lawyer linked to the various areas of litigation, with an intense professional activity focusing mainly in the field of Criminal Law, especially in the area of Economic Criminal Law and financial offenses, as well as contractual and corporate litigation;

Interventions in national and international arbitrations, also as an arbitrator;

Founding and managing partner of Rogério Alves & Associados — Sociedade de Advogados, R.L., and also responsible for the Litigation and Arbitration area, since 2013;

Senator of the UIBA (Unión Iberoamericana de Colegios de Abogados), between 2011 and 2020;

He was awarded the Grand Cross of Merit by the General Council of Spanish Law, and gave the closing conference of the respective congress ceremony, which focused on the Presumption of Innocence, in December 2007;

Awarded by the International Union of Lawyers for his fight for human rights and defense of the prerogatives of law, in June 2007;

He was awarded the Grand Inconfidence Medal by the State of Minas Gerais, Brazil, by Governor Aécio Neves, in 2006;

Visiting Professor, teaching Forensic Rhetoric at the Law School of Universidade Católica Portuguesa – Escola de Lisboa, since 2005;

President of the Portuguese Bar Association, from 2005 to 2007;

President of the Lisbon District Council of the Portuguese Bar Association, between 2002 and 2004;

Member of the Lisbon District Council of the Portuguese Bar Association, between 1993 and 1995;

Lawyer in individual practice, developing his work with particular emphasis on the areas of Commercial Law, Corporate Law, Real Estate Law and Litigation, since 1987.
