Casper Sek

Casper Sek graduated from Beijing Normal University, University of International Business and Economics and the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a bachelor’s degree in law and two LLM degrees, respectively.

Casper joined Jingtian & Gongcheng in 2022 and was approved as a partner by the firm.

Casper’s primary areas of practice include cybersecurity and data compliance, M&A, private equity and venture capital, and foreign direct investment. He was ranked by LEGALBAND, a legal rating agency, as one of the Top Cybersecurity and Data Lawyers in China in 2021; and as one of the Top 15 Chinese Lawyers in Cybersecurity and Data Protection area in 2020 by LEGALBAND.

Casper is one of the Chinese lawyers that early got involved in providing legal services in the emerging field of cloud computing. He has extensive experiences in cybersecurity and data compliance: he has handled a large number of legal challenges involving cyber security and privacy protection, such as the coordination of data protection across jurisdictions and regulatory compliance of IT outsourcing for financial clients. Casper also advised well-known foreign IT companies for the implementation of their cloud computing solutions in China. He leads his team to provide detailed analysis and advice to clients on the legal compliance, adequacy of cybersecurity and data protection, based on full familiarity and understanding of the characteristics of the relevant products, service delivery methods, and the data collection, transmission and flow modes. Casper also provides legal supports to a number of companies engaged in Internet and value-added telecommunications businesses on compliance matters such as data security, personal information protection, data transmission security assessment, cybersecurity review, cybersecurity classified protection and compliance, critical information infrastructure protection, etc. He works with clients in the industries such as e-commerce, supercomputing, artificial intelligence medical application, pharmaceutical, biotech, Internet audiovisual communication, Internet advertising, Internet publishing, gaming and e-sports, luxury goods, etc.

Casper also advises clients in TMT, Internet, biomedical, industrial park, pharmaceuticals, energy, education, and other industries in investment and M&A deals, providing full legal services from due diligence, deal structuring, contract drafting and negotiation, to closing.

Casper was admitted to practice law in the P.R.C in 2007 and was admitted to in New York Bar in 2012.
