Global Law Experts is pleased to welcome Kevin Richard Nathan, Deputy Managing Partner and Head of Projects & Infrastructure at Nazmi Zaini Chambers, as an Exclusive Member for Projects & Infrastructure in Malaysia.

Kevin advises on infrastructure, construction and energy matters, covering both project development and dispute resolution. His work includes EPC and EPCC contracts, power purchase agreements, project financing documentation, consultancy and subcontract arrangements, procurement matters and construction disputes.

He is regularly involved from the early stages of a project, including procurement and contract negotiation, through to implementation, claims management and dispute resolution. This gives him a practical view of the issues that can arise over the course of a project and how they should be managed at the documentation stage.

Kevin has advised on a number of energy and infrastructure mandates, including an EPCC contract for a large-scale solar photovoltaic project in Sabah.

His contentious practice includes adjudication, arbitration and court proceedings arising from construction and infrastructure matters. He has also acted in a successful High Court application for direct payment under Section 30 of the Construction Industry Payment and Adjudication Act 2012 (CIPAA).

Kevin also advises institutional and public-sector clients. His work includes advising Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) on an international partnership initiative and advising Perbadanan Kemajuan Filem Nasional Malaysia (FINAS) in relation to proposed amendments to the National Film Development Corporation Act and related regulations.

Before joining Nazmi Zaini Chambers, Kevin practised at Zul Rafique & Partners and Shearn Delamore & Co. He later served as in-house legal counsel at Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (Diperbadankan) (KWAP).

His time in both private practice and in-house has given him experience in looking at legal issues from both an external counsel and client perspective, particularly where project decisions involve commercial, operational and institutional considerations.

Kevin holds an LL.B (Hons.) from Multimedia University and was admitted to the Malaysian Bar in 2017. He is also an HRD Corp Certified Trainer and is involved in legal training and industry sessions.

His training work has included construction contracts, risk allocation, adjudication, claims management and dispute strategy. He also speaks and moderates at legal and ADR-related events.

Kevin has been recognised by IFLR1000 for project development and energy-related work and by asialaw for construction.

In his practice, Kevin works closely with developers, contractors, institutional clients and other project stakeholders on both front-end documentation and disputes. His approach is practical and focused on helping clients manage legal risk without losing sight of project delivery and commercial priorities.

His appointment as an Exclusive Member of Global Law Experts adds to a growing practice in Malaysia’s projects and infrastructure sector, particularly in construction, energy and project development work.
